On all Versio hosting and reseller packages we provide Let's Encypt support. The certificates of Let's Encrypt are no Wildcard SSL certificates or no company name displayed in the address bar of the browser. In this guide we will explain how the certificate can be installed on our web hosting servers.
To activate Let's Encrypt, you have to log in to the hosting control panel DirectAdmin. You've recieved the login details of your hosting account after purchasing the package. Did the login details not work or have you forget it, you can reset it by this instruction.
Request and install a Let's Encrypt certificate
- Login to Directadmin.
- Click on your domain name.
- Click on "SSL Certificates" under the heading "Advanced Features".
When you don't see the heading SSL Certificates in your DirectAdmin environment, please consult this page.
- Select "Free & Automatic certificate from Let's Encrypt" (Note to select two squares, in gray and blue!)
- Fill in all the details.
- Select the option Key Size (bits): 4096
- Select the option Certificate Type: SHA256
If you have completed it you will see the following:
When finished, click on "Save" at the bottom of the screen and the certificate will be applied and installed.
Make your site ready to use SSL
Go back to the homescreen of Directadmin, and click on "Domain administration" and then click your domain name.
Make sure "Secure SSL" is checked.
Select "Use a symbolic link from private_html to public_html - Allows for same dates http and https" in order to continue using the files from the website of the public_html folder. If you do not select this option, you must move the site files to the private_html folder.
